BOD-2 BASS OVERDRIVE

Most guitar overdrive pedals tailor the sound before and after the clipping stage. This results in a loss of bottom end, as too much bass in an overdriven sound can make the sound “flabby”.

We thought it was time to update our BOD1 Bass Overdrive pedal. This is the Mozztronics update on a pedal especially for bass players. Our design takes the signal from the bass guitar and splits it. One path goes straight to the output via the DRY volume control, the other path goes through a high pass filter (to remove the flab from the overdrive) and then to a double clipping stage so as the signal level increases each different clipping stage contributes accordingly. This signal then goes to the switchable EQ circuitry and to the WET volume control. By changing the levels of DRY and WET you can easily vary the balance between the two signals. By keeping the original signal, we retain a warm bottom end and we add in as much dirt up top as is desired.

GAIN controls the amount of overdrive from barely on to full on shred, DRY controls the amount of normal signal from the bass guitar, WET adjusts the amount of overdriven signal, FREQ is a 5 ways switch to set the frequency of the MID control (380 Hz-550Hz-1.2kHz-1.6kHz-3.5kHz), MID adjusts the midrange volume, and TREBLE adjusts the treble. There is a switch to turn the EQ on and off, and an earth lift switch for the electronically balanced XLR DI output.

The EQ only operates on the WET (dirty) signal, the clean signal is untouched by the EQ, giving you the sound of your bass, and adding dirt on top.

Mozztronics want to make their contribution to a greener world by keeping 9V batteries out of landfill. For this reason Mozztronics pedals do NOT have space inside for a 9V battery. If you do not already have a suitable power supply such as a Boss wall-wart, One Spot, PP2 etc we can supply a Mozztronics PS-2 power supply with your order for an additional $26. Please include a note with your order if you wish to add a power supply.
