VB-2 DUO-VIBE DUAL VIBRATO
We here at Mozztronics love modulation, especially Vibrato, whether it be vocal pitch modulation (within reason, we all know singers who go way too far with this) or string bending on a guitar. Many tube amps have Tremolo and a rare few have a much more “wobbly” version called a Vibrato. We all know that real vibrato is a change in pitch, and this pedal pushes and pulls the audio signal to create variable pitch, just like in those fantastic amps from long ago. The old amp in question used a device called a varistor (a device whose resistance changes with the voltage across it) and these varistors are no longer available, so we worked out another way to do this.
The Mozztronics VB-2 Duo-Vibe effects pedal creates a wonderfully wobbly vibrato effect
An opto based device is used to modulate the guitar signal. This opto device is controlled by a sinusoidal low frequency oscillator (LFO). At low depth settings the Vibrato effect can be quite subtle.
We put two Vibrato stages in series, each with its own LFO and depth controls.
We also included a switch to swap the LFO source for stage 2 to either the stage 2 LFO or the stage 1 LFO and another switch to select whether the stage 2 LFO is in phase or out of phase with the stage 1 LFO.
We also added DRY blend, to add some of the original signal into the output along with the vibrato signal.
SPD-1 controls the speed of the stage 1 Vibrato effect
DEP-1 controls the amount of the effect
SPD-2 controls the speed of the stage 2 Vibrato effect
DEP-2 controls the amount of the effect
DRY controls how much of the original signal is mixed with the Vibrato signal,
VOLUME adjusts the overall volume out of the pedal, and there is a switch to select the source of the stage 2 LFO, from either the stage 2 LFO, or from the stage 1 LFO and a switch to select whether the stage 2 LFO is in or out of phase with the stage 1 LFO.
We also added internal switches to set the range of each LFO.
If you set SPD-1 fairly fast, and SPD-2 much slower you can get a wonderfully swirly and wobbly vibrato effect unlike anything you have heard before.
Mozztronics uses the industry standard Boss style 2.1mm centre negative 9V DC socket for this pedal.
Mozztronics want to make their contribution to a greener world by keeping 9V batteries out of landfill. For this reason Mozztronics pedals do NOT have space inside for a 9V battery. If you do not already have a suitable power supply such as a Boss wall-wart, One Spot, PP2 etc we can supply a Mozztronics PS-2 power supply with your order for an additional $26. Please include a note with your order if you wish to add a power supply.
